Penhaligon's is an old perfume house- originally a British perfumery created by William Penhaligon in 1870. With humble beginnings as a barbershop, William Penhaligon began offering fragrance, the first was called Hammam Bouquet which was inspired by a local Turkish bathhouse. In 1956, after the shop had been destroyed in The Blitz of 1941, Duke of Edinburgh granted William Penhaligon the right to begin manufacturing toiletries for him.
A flagship store would open in 1975 in Covent Gardens, which generated new interest in the brand. The older formulas previously curated by William Penhaligon were being reintroduced as well as some newer, more floral based scents made for women such as Bluebell first launched in 1978 and remains a best seller today.
The company is committed to creating perfumes with high quality ingredients and tradition techniques. This niche fragrance brand continues to curate top of the line fragrances.
