Serge Lutens is an French multi-faceted artist whose brand encompasses fashion, fragrance, hair design, film and photography.
In 1980 the Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido hired Serge Lutens to aid in the development of their brand image. The partnership with Shiseido was a success for both parties. In 1982 Shiseido commissioned Serge Lutens to curate a fragrance, it would be called Nombre Noir. The two would partner on another classic fragrance, 1992's Feminite du Bois. Serge Lutens then designed and conceptualized a luxe perfume house, Les Salons du Palais Royal, for the exclusive marketing of Shiseido and Lutens fragrances.
In 2000, Serge Lutens established his own venture called Parfums-Beaute Serge Lutens.
