Acqua di Parma began in a small factory in Parma, Italy. The first fragrance was Colonia and it was created in 1916, initially used to perfume a mans handkerchief. Colonia became a favorite for many celebrities during the 1930's - 1950's. The popularity die down in the later years while the brand struggled to stay relevant.
In the early 1990’s, influential Italians; Diego Della Valle, Luca Cordero Di Montezemolo, and Paolo Borgomanero, banned together to restore Acqua di Parma. They recreated the older fragrances and would also curate new ones.
